Expanded visitor restrictions at UP Health System
UP Health System – Bell, Marquette and Portage are expanding visitor restrictions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, including novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Effective immediately all routine visiting is being suspended until further notice.
Rock Lions Club cancels breakfast buffet
The All you can eat Breakfast Buffet for March 15, at the Rock Lions Club as been cancelled.
Michigan prisons closed to visitors
The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) will cease in-person visiting of prisoners effective immediately for the safety of staff, prisoners and the public. This will also include outside volunteers and other tours and groups who routinely come into the prisons.

Mac Bridge Assistance Program suspended
To help prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) will indefinitely suspend its driver assistance program.
Drivers who have used the driver assistance program, which provides an MBA employee to drive vehicles across the bridge for customers who are uncomfortable doing so themselves, are encouraged to make other arrangements before arriving at the bridge.
Copper Country Merit Badge Day
The Copper Country Merit Badge Day at Michigan Tech that was scheduled for Saturday, April 4 has been postponed. As of this time, organizers are unsure when the day will be rescheduled.
Episcopal Churches Suspend Services
Episcopal Churches in Northern Michigan have temporarily suspend all in-person worship services and gatherings from now until the end of March.
DAR meeting cancelled
The Onagomingkway Chapter DAR is cancelling its meeting at Jasper Ridge Brewery for Saturday, March 14. The group apologizes for the short notice and hopes to resume chapter meetings in April.
Gladstone School and Public Library will be Closed
The Gladstone School and Public Library is closing following the announcement by Governor Gretchen Whitmer and State Superintendent Michael Rice concerning the closure of all Michigan K-12 school buildings, public, private and boarding, starting Monday, March 16 through Sunday, April 5. The library will open when Gladstone Area Schools reopens. Library materials that are currently checked out will have a new due date of April 17 so there will be no late fees. Library materials may be returned in the outside drop box in front of the library on 300 South 10th Street.
