Judy Akkala finishes signing her name as the newest commissioner for the Gladstone City Commission at Gladstone City Hall Monday. Akkala fills in the vacant seat left after former commissioner Dave Phalen resigned from the commission due to moving out of the city limits. The city commission received two applications and letters of interest, but decided on Akkala. Akkala will have to run for re-election in August if she wishes to finish Phalen’s full term to 2023.
