Strom leaving post as county administrator

ESCANABA — Delta County Administrator Philip Strom has accepted a new position as deputy city attorney for the City of Grand Rapids, he announced in a press release Monday.

Strom has been involved with public service in Delta County for more than eight years. He previously served as the county’s prosecuting attorney, and was hired to fill the county administrator position after former county administrator Ryan Bergman left last year.

In his new role, Strom will help manage the Grand Rapids legal department and will provide legal services to the city of Grand Rapids.

“I am very honored to have served my home county since 2011. My family and I are grateful and excited for our next chapter in a new community known for innovation, diversity and growth,” Strom stated in the press release.

In addition to Strom’s role as Delta County’s administrator, he currently serves as secretary on the Bay College Board of Trustees.

Strom and his family will transition during August, and he is set to officially start in his new position on Sept. 3.

The Delta County Board of Commissioners will schedule a meeting to discuss and develop a plan for the transition.

Starting at $4.00/week.
