ESCANABA – The Delta County League of Women Voters (DCLWV) has established a memorial fund honoring Clara Mosefelder, local League founder, civic leader and teacher.
Mosefelder passed away in January 2025 after a long history of community service. In addition to the League, she was a past president of the Escanaba School Board and the Delta County Historical Society.
Additionally, she taught art to all ages, from kindergarten to college.
Mosefelder’s advocacy for well-informed civic participation underscored for her the importance of educating our future citizens in the history of our country and its valued foundations. In her name, the DCLWV is proud to make monetary gifts to local schools to enhance or supplement their social studies/civics curriculums and the instructional process.
Checks were recently presented to the Bark River Schools for active classroom aids, Escanaba Schools for a local government day field trip and Gladstone Schools for Michigan Youth in Government.

The DCLWV is proud of our work in Delta County and our history, which began in 1951. We have much to thank Mosefelder for, and these donations in her name are meant to recognize her contributions to civic education here in Delta County.
These gifts are in addition to the book donations made to the Escanaba and Gladstone Public Libraries.
The LWV is a non-partisan political organization established in 1920. It’s work to encourage informed and active participation in government continues. New members are welcome.
