ESCANABA — Players de Noc, beloved local theater troupe, is prepared to perform their last show of the season beginning Friday.
“The Producers” — a riotous show set in 1959 and featuring exaggerated, intentionally-offensive portrayals of characters and themes — is a popular Mel Brooks musical. The plot follows a theatrical performance designed to be a flop that ends up a surprise hit.
“Directed by Jamie Peterson, The Producers aims to be the ‘worst’ musical Players has ever put on,” Players de Noc wrote.
As the troupe’s home of the Bonifas Arts Center is still not usable after a fire last spring, performances will be held at the Besse Center Theater at Bay College.
Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on March 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14; on March 8, there is a 1:30 p.m. matinee.
