Salvation Army sets up Toy Shop
The Salvation Army in Escanaba recently had its annual Toy Shop for families in need from Delta and Schoolcraft counties. In the end the Salvation Army expected to serve more than 120 families and 250 kids from the two counties. "So many families were overwhelmed by the generosity of our community, some even moved to tears in gratitude," said Capt. Doug Winters of the Salvation Army in Escanaba. "In addition to over eight gifts for each child, families received new clothing, a food basket and a certificate for free meat from Elmer's County Market or Jack's Fresh Market."
