ESCANABA – The employee-owners of Ferrellgas Partners Great Lakes Service Center recently donated food items worth $400 to The Salvation Army food pantry in Escanaba.
“For us, service doesn’t stop at the customer — it extends to our entire community,” Great Lakes General Manager Doug Harrer said. “We feel a responsibility to support the neighbors who help make the Great Lakes region home.”
Head of Retail Ray Galan agreed. “Our Great Lakes team exemplifies what it means to be employee-owners,” he said. “Seeing their commitment to giving back is incredible.”
The $400 food donation, which included more than 250 cans of soup, will help The Salvation Army provide hundreds of meals for local families in need. Soup is a top-requested item because it is shelf-stable, easy to prepare and provides essential nutritional content — like protein and vegetables — in one complete meal.
This donation is just one of the ways the company gives back. It created the Ferrellgas Century Project to support charitable organizations at the global, national and local level, the company states in a news release.
“We take pride in caring for the communities where we live and work,” Galan said. “Giving back locally is a part of who we are.”
