ESCANABA — The Bay College and Lake Superior State University Regional Chapter of Business Professionals of America has launched its annual Warm Coats for Warm Hearts campaign, which collects coats for those in need in Delta County.
This student-driven campaign started Monday and extends through Oct. 20. Collection boxes are located throughout Delta County at these businesses: Elmer’s County Market, Pat’s Foods IGA in Gladstone, Integra First Federal Credit Union in Powers, YMCA Aquatics & Athletics buildings, Massies County Market in Bark River, Delta Church and on the Bay College Escanaba Campus in the HUB during business hours.
“BPA encourages professionalism while being able to help support the community. I’m learning to develop my leadership skills as we work through this campaign, through the importance of volunteering our time, talents, and treasures to our community,” said Marcy Dugree, BPA member and Bay College student pursuing an associates degree in business.
At the end of the two weeks, these coats will be distributed to Tri-County Safe Harbor and the Salvation Army. Any coat or other winter gear — scarves, gloves, hats, snow pants — are welcome, in sizes from infant to adult. While new items are preferred, lightly used items are appreciated.
Those who have any questions or would like to volunteer can contact Marcy Dugree at 906-235-6979 or email marcy.dugree@baycollege.edu.
