Bay honors Gibbs with TORCH Award

ESCANABA/IRON MOUNTAIN – Bay College has chosen Amy Gibbs as its TORCH Award recipient for the September-November quarter.
Gibbs began at Bay College in July 2021 as director of TRIO Student Support Services. She was promoted to dean of Student Success in October 2022, and now is director of Career and Workforce Development. She was nominated by multiple colleagues for her strong dedication to the mission of Bay College and her unwavering commitment to student success, according to a Bay news release.
“Amy Gibbs is an outstanding team player. She consistently demonstrates professionalism, respect, and a positive attitude, ensuring that every team member feels heard, even when challenges arise. Her empathy toward colleagues stands out, fostering a strong sense of trust and enhancing team collaboration,” a colleague said. “Additionally, Amy takes the initiative to encourage open communication, making others feel valued and motivated to contribute, which strengthens the team’s unity and productivity.”
Another colleague said, “Amy is a deeply dependable and service-oriented professional who consistently rises to meet the evolving needs of the college community. She is the first to step in when help is needed, often going above and beyond her role to support students and colleagues alike. Her commitment to being available, helpful and flexible demonstrates a unique kind of excellence — one rooted in teamwork, compassion and a student-first mindset.”
