Artists wanted for Waterfront Art Festival

ESCANABA — The Waterfront Art Festival, will be happening soon in beautiful Ludington Park near the Karas Bandshell. This art festival, approaching its 50th year, will feature exhibitors and vendors from all over the Upper Peninsula and beyond! Artists and vendors will display their artwork at the festival on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Interested in being an art vendor? The Bonifas is currently taking applications for Waterfront. Download the app from the “Artists and Vendors” tab on www.bonifasarts.org or pick up an application at the Bonifas! Artists working with any media, including jewelry, photography, pottery, and much more are welcome to submit an application.

This juried Art Festival normally attracts more than 3,000 people annually, giving patrons the valuable opportunity to view and purchase art by talented artists, have a bite to eat at one of the many food vendors, and engage in conversations with peers and viewers from across the region, all while enjoying a summer day in Escanaba’s beautiful Ludington Park. Artists and art patrons can also enjoy the festival itself, with its live music, entertainment, art raffle tent, delicious food, and activities.

Waterfront provides a great opportunity for people to do some shopping for hard-to-buy-for friends and family, or to pick up something special for themselves or their home. “Come down to the Waterfront Art Festival this year where you will see many of the same artists you have come to know and love, and even a few new ones,” Bonifas Events Coordinator Paula Jordan said.

In addition, Waterfront Art Festival will again be hosting the Young Artists’ Market (under the signature blue and white tent), featuring original works by area young people (ages 18 and under). The Kid’s Art/Activity Tent will be back this year too! To help enliven the crowd, talented bands and entertainment will be performing on the bandshell stage all day long during the festival. For more information, visit www.bonifasarts.org, or stop by the Bonifas Arts Center at 700 First Ave. S. in Escanaba.

Starting at $3.50/week.
