Fishing museum closed this summer

MENOMINEE — The West Shore Fishing Museum announced it will not open this summer due to the coronavirus threat. Two major events, Heritage Crafts Day and the Ice Cream Social, have been cancelled.

Volunteers will use this time to work on renovations and improvements. The Facebook page, West Shore Fishing Museum, will include updates on ongoing projects.

New volunteers are sorely needed to help with gardening, painting, trail development and maintenance, organizing pictures and documents, and general maintenance of the boats, buildings, and grounds. Work bees are held every Wednesday from 9 a.m. through early afternoon, with workers coming and going on their own schedule. There is plenty of open space for social distancing.

While we are not open for our regular schedule, limited tours and trail time for family groups may be arranged during the summer. Call 715-923-9756 for more information on volunteering or special arrangements.
