Wine and beer tasting at Highland

HYDE –The Highland Golf Club’s Fourth Annual Fall Wine and Beer Tasting Event will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Highland. This year’s event will also benefit the Delta County Animal Shelter. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event, or in advance from Highland Club members or by calling 906-280-5810.

This year’s event will feature local wineries, as well as the local breweries. There will be 16 wines and 14 beers available to sample. Leigh’s Garden from Escanaba, Northern Sun Winery from Bark River and End of the Road Winery from Manistique will all be featuring their most popular wines, and Upper Hand Brewery of Escanaba will feature their favorite specialty beers. Bink’s Wine and Beverage, Pike’s, and Johnson’s Distributing will also be there with their most popular specialty beers and wines.

The cost of the ticket includes six beer and/or wine samples, a complimentary wine or pilsner glass, and plenty of hors d’oeuvres. Additional sampling tickets will be available for purchase and featured wines and beers will also be available for sale at the event. All attendees will be automatically entered into a drawing for free door prizes and attendees can earn extra entries into a special drawing by bringing donations for the Delta County Animal Shelter. The shelter is currently in need of canned kitten food, Purina Cat Chow Complete or Purina Kitten Chow, cat litter (clay and clumping), blankets and toys, as well as monetary donations. Bucket raffles and 50/50 tickets will also be available. In addition, there will be numerous vendors selling their locally made products.

The Highland Fall Wine and Beer Tasting event begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, and the club welcomes everyone to check out their famous “Highland Hospitality.” The Highland is located seven miles west of Escanaba on US 2. For more information, call the Highland at 906-466-2791.
