Silver Lings, Key Clubs plan fundraisers

ESCANABA — The Escanaba High School’s Silver Linings Club and Key Club, are teaming up to tackle cancer. From now until Oct. 19, the clubs will be selling t-shirts, pins, and headbands to raise money for the Delta County Cancer Alliance. They are also accepting monetary donations.

There will be activities at the high school during the week, including a Pink Out on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and a bake sale during both lunches. A tally of the donations will be updated on the Shave-O-Meter, located in the commons, that shows which football players will have their heads shaved after Friday night’s game.

During the last home football game on Oct. 19, a group of football players are going to shave their heads in a show of solidarity with those affected by hair loss due to chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The number of players who will shave their heads depends on the amount of money raised for the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
