Students collect winter clothing for needy

POWERS — The North Central Chapter of the National Honor Society recently held a Winter Clothing Drive. Over 300 winter items were donated including coats, boots, mittens, scarves, hats, and warm blankets.
NHS promoted the event by having a class competition to see who could donate the most. The seventh graders were the winners with 110 items. They were rewarded with a class party including Dairy Queen ice cream cakes and beverages.
The items donated are available in the North Central Elementary building this week starting Dec. 20 through Dec. 22 for anyone in the community needing to stay warm this winter or knowing a family that could use a little extra help. After Dec. 22, items will be donated to a larger organization in the area. For more information contact NHS Adviser Emily Westphal at ewestphal@ncajets.org.
