Kurpier gets Mark of Excellence Award

ESCANABA — David Kurpier was recently named a 2018 Mark of Excellence National Service Technician Award winner. Kurpier has been employed at Riverside Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac in Escanaba since 2005. He earned a associates of applied science from Triton College and graduated from the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program. Students in the program alternate between classroom training and hands on work experience. This combination of school and work reinforces the technical knowledge gained while in college. With a ranking of 4th in the nation, he earned the national travel award for a three day/two night trip to Detroit, where the top 50 technicians in the country stayed at the MGM Grand, enjoyed a reception and recognition dinner at the Waterview Loft, visited the Hazel Park Battery Plant and got to experience driving an obstacle course on the state-of-the-art 1.5 mile Performance Track at the M1 Concourse.

Kurpier was the only technician in Michigan recognized for his achievements in technical training, product knowledge, customer satisfaction and outstanding years of service. Also ranked first in the zone, he was honored at a banquet in Brookfield, Wis., earlier this year.
