Wells Lions Club raffle winner
ESCANABA -- The $250 winners of the Wells Lions Club's 52-week raffle for week six, dated Sept. 7, are Jim Crawford and Jeanne Larson, both of Escanaba, Michigan.
Memoir-writing class
ESCANABA -- A six-week memoir-writing class is held Friday mornings from 10-11 a.m. at the Gary Abrahamson Enrichment Center in Escanaba. It began Aug. 28 and goes through Oct. 2. MARSP Meeting in Manistique
MANISTIQUE -- Today, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) members will gather at 40 Bar and Grill at 100 S. 2nd St. in Manistique for their monthly luncheon meeting. Socializing begins at 11:30 p.m. and lunch is to be served at noon. Steve Gordon, regional director for the MARSP, is the speaker. Free Bible classes to begin
For the fourth year, Steven Sprague will soon be conducting free Bible study classes at Bay College.
The non-denominational study-based forum is open to all adults and teaches attendees how to “read the Bible with understanding” and “accurately unveil God’s teachings,” a press release stated.
Sprague authored a book entitled “Understanding His Story: Humanity’s Eleventh Hour,” produced through Christian Faith Publishing, in 2023.
This year’s series of classes begins tomorrow at the Joseph Heirman Center in room 963 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Student workbooks are supplied free, but as class size is limited, registration is required in order to secure a seat as well as materials.

Menominee MARSP meeting
MENOMINEE – The Menominee County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP), will meet Thursday at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338 in Carbondale. Registration is 11 to 11:25 a.m. CDT, and lunch -- a chicken dinner at a cost of $15 -- will be served at 11:30 a.m. CDT.
The program for the day will be presented by Director Tarra Gamelin of Spies Library in Menominee. She will discuss services available for "seasoned patrons.” A business meeting will follow the program. Members are encouraged to bring a paper product or cleaning product to donate to the homeless shelter.

Veterans’ fundraiser
BARK RIVER -- A fundraiser for the U.P. Honor Flight is taking place on Sept. 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 2026 Old U.S. 2 and 41, at the corner of Old U.S. 2 and 69.
The public is invited to attend the event, which features gun raffles, bag raffles, a 50/50 raffle, food truck and live music from the Peltier Brothers.
The event is BYOB. Side-by-sides are welcome.
Wildlife Forestry Field Day
ESCANABA — MSU Forestry Innovation Center (FIC) is hosting a free Wildlife Forestry Field Day on Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET at the FIC in Hyde, found at 6005 J Rd. in Escanaba.

Escanaba Class of ’81 reunion
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Class of 1981 will be having a 45th reunion on Sept. 12 at the Highland Golf Club. Starting out the day will be a golf outing at 1 p.m. Please contact Dave Harris if you would like to participate. Registration and social will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., and a buffet dinner will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Youth Powwow
GLADSTONE -- The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, Youth Education and Activities will be hosting a Youth Powwow on Sept. 12 at the Ziibing Pavilion at Pioneer Trail Park, 6822 US Highway 2, 41 and M35.

Schoolcraft Dems Picnic
MANISTIQUE -- Schoolcraft County Democratic Picnic will be Sept. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lindsley Frenette Park, which is located on US 2 near the county airport. The event will offer brats and hot dogs, games, and music, and the chance to meet the candidates running for office. The public is welcome. Bring your own beverage. Dress for the weather and bring a chair.

ESCANABA -- St. Thomas will be hosting a breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at 1820 9th Ave. N. in Escanaba. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, pancakes, applesauce, juice and coffee. The public is welcome to attend.

Delta County Cancer Alliance seeks Donations
ESCANABA -- The Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) is in need of bed pads. Many of the DCCA’s clients who are going through cancer treatments appreciate the convenience of using bed pads for comfort and cleanliness at a very challenging time. The DCCA will accept donations at their office, 1230 N. 18th St. (at the rear of Christ the King Lutheran Church), from Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
