Wedding bells are a familiar refrain in Northern Michigan, with picturesque communities like Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix beckoning brides and grooms from across the state and region.

NorthernMIWeddings.com, the newest site from Northern Michigan Review, looks to connect the dots for those getting married in Northern Michigan through an attractive and extensive listing of wedding vendors and venues in the area.

“The new site is essentially a wedding search engine for just Northern Michigan, which is huge for this area because you can now find everything you need to plan a wedding Up North in one place,” said Molly Hauxwell Currier, special publications editor of Northern Michigan Review and one of the key members of the site’s implementation team. “Our area gets mixed in with the rest of Michigan on some of the national weddings sites so this is much more convenient to use to find everything from a venue to dress alterations.”

The free-to-use website is broken down into helpful categories. For instance, within the “venues” category, those planning weddings can search for rustic or vintage, waterfront, resort or country club venues.

“It’s especially helpful for those planning weddings from out of the area because it will introduce them to a number of locations they couldn’t just find through Googling the area, and NorthernMIWeddings.com can match them to the type of wedding they’re interested in,” Hauxwell Currier said.

The website helps to ease the challenging task of planning a wedding through visually appealing listings and categories, and the opportunities to save information on favorite vendors.

“I think Northern Michigan is a beautiful location for a wedding,” Hauxwell Currier said. “I got married here while living out of state a few years ago and it was hard to plan because not all Northern Michigan businesses are online, and it took a lot of digging to find vendors and information.”

The website ties into the newly created Northern MI Weddings magazine, whose first issue was printed in October, and information from the latest edition can be found on the website. The next edition of the twice-a-year magazine comes out in April 2017.
