Local Parkinson support group
ESCANABA — The Michigan Parkinson Foundation support group for Escanaba and the surrounding areas meets at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Delta Coin Club gathering
ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Delta Coin Club will be 5 p.m. Tuesday in room 961 of the Joseph Heirman Building at Bay College. St. Anthony meat pie sale
ESCANABA — St. Anthony’s will have a meat pie sale Thursday and Friday.
Pies will be half pork and half ground chuck. There is a cost and they must be preordered, ideally as soon as possible. To order, call or text Debbie at 906-399-4259. Pick up will be at St. Thomas Church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N.
Bake sale at Delta museum
ESCANABA — The Delta County Historical Society’s annual Bake Sale at the Museum is slated for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Donations of items to see are welcome beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Both donors and patrons are invited to tour the museum without charge and to enjoy the view of Little Bay de Noc from the multi-purpose room.
Breads, cookies, candy, cakes and ethnic specialties will be available. In addition, the museum gift shop offers local honey and maple syrup, as well as a selection of Sand Point Lighthouse sweatshirts and other items suitable as stocking stuffers.

Gladstone library story hour
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Public Library will host a “Santa Is On His Way” story hour at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
All children ages 2 to 10 years old and their families are invited to join in the holiday festivities. Attendees can enjoy holiday stories, festive music, crafts and treats.

Parks’ book signing Dec. 13
GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library will host a book signing for author Judge Steve Parks, who has released his first novel “The Serenity Gang,” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the library, 300 S. 10th St.
Parks had always dreamed of becoming a published author. He became inspired by the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and the spirit of that generation. “It’s about letting go of the past so you can live for the future,” Parks said.
Books will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Church plans Cookie Walk
ESCANABA — First United Methodist Church of Escanaba, 302 S. Sixth St., plans to have a Cookie Walk starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and going until the goodies are gone.
In addition to cookies, it will have other baked goods, such as breads and a craft sale with a variety of items.
A table will be set with coffee and free samples of cookies. Some cookie tins will be available but participants can bring their own container. Cookies are sold by the pound. For more information, call the church at 906-786-3713.
Ford River Lions Christmas party
ESCANABA — The Ford River Lions Club will host a Christmas party from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ford River Lions Club, 3764 L.15 Lane in Escanaba.
The free event will feature a hayride, food, crafts, children’s gift bags and a visit from Santa. Parking will be available at the Ford River Pub for easy access to the hayride.
Y to host Parents Night Out
ESCANABA — The Northern Lights YMCA will host a Parents Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the multipurpose room of the YMCA, 2000 N. 30th St. in Escanaba. They will offer crafts, pizza, popcorn and a Christmas movie for children ages 5 to 10, with those attending encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas pajamas and bring a blanket to snuggle. Cantata Choir to perform
ROCK — The Rock-Perkins Area Cantata Choir will present “The Ballad of Bethlehem” by Pepper Choplin as its annual Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 21.
They will perform three times that day: 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock, 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins and 6 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River.
Refreshments and fellowship will follow each performance, and a free-will offering will be accepted to help with the cost of the music. All are invited to attend. Come enjoy this re-telling of the Christmas story.
Drive on for UP Foster Closet
ESCANABA — St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Escanaba is hosting an advent drive through Dec. 21 for the U.P. Foster Closet of Delta County.
Basic needs include personal care items; diapers; crib sheets; towels; winter hats and gloves; twin bed sheets; soft blankets; and new clothing in boys sizes 12 months to 5T, girls sizes 12 months, 18 months and all sizes 6X through 16/18. A complete list can be found on ststephensescanaba.org.
Items can be dropped off at the church, 500 Ogden Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays. Special drop-off arrangements can be made by calling Pat at 906-241-0478.
Gladstone Library Friends drive
GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library has started its 2025 Membership and Donation Drive, accepting monetary donations through Dec. 31.
Those interested can donate or sign up for a membership at the Gladstone Public Library, 300 S. 10th St. Membership dues are $10 for adults, $20 for families, $50 for patrons or $200 for lifetime.
All dues and donations go directly to the library to help support activities and programs for the community and children, such as story hours, summer reading programs, downloadable books and magazines, and library hours outside normal school day hours.
The Friends also host various events throughout the year, such as their Card/Game Parties in both June and November and a Candlelight Dinner in April.

Donations sought for book sale
ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival.
They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested. Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.
Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.
Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.
