Delta Dems to meet

Monarch event Thursday
RAPID RIVER — U.P. Wild Church will have its fifth-annual Blessing of the Monarchs at 5 p.m. Thursday at Peninsula Point Lighthouse at the end of the Stonington Peninsula.
Every year the monarchs gather at Peninsula Point as they prepare to migrate south. The event will honor the survival of the monarch butterfly and wish them safe travel as they make their way to the Mexico wintering ground, the church stated in a news release.
Those attending should bring a chair and dress for conditions. Carpooling is recommended, as parking is limited.
Peninsula Point is at 3722 County 513 T Road in Bay de Noc Township.
Escanaba library open house
ESCANABA — The Friends of Escanaba Library will host their annual Back-to-School Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The event will include a Scavenger Hunt where the young people will have to visit six stations around the library complex to acquire a stamp on their registration card. Once full, they will be entered into drawings for Amazon gift cards, to be held at 12:45 p.m. Winners need not be present. Snacks and giveaways will be done as well.
St. Thomas breakfast set
ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N. in Escanaba, will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, pancakes, applesauce, juice and coffee. The public is welcome.
Escanaba Class of 1966
ESCANABA — Escanaba Class of 1966 will have a reunion meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Drifters Restaurant, 701 N. Lincoln Road in Escanaba. All classmates are invited to attend.
Coin club to meet

Caregiver Retreat set
CRYSTAL FALLS — Registration will end Thursday, Sept. 11, for a Caregiver Retreat planned for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central time Saturday, Sept. 27, at Fortune Lake Camp near Crystal Falls in Iron County.
Hosted by Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress, the event is designed to provide rest and rejuvenation for non-professional family caregivers from the Upper Peninsula.
The day will include structured activities such as a nature hike and yoga. Also planned are a caregiver support group meeting, time at the waterfront and creating a nibble board. Participants can enjoy a chair massage from a professional massage therapist if they like.
Activities will be lead by registered dietitian and certified yoga instructor Pam Roose from Inspiring Roots of Ishpeming and assisted by Della Juliano, UPCAP health and caregiver educator.
Cost for the Caregiver Retreat is $30, non-refundable, and includes lunch and a chair massage. To register, go to www.upcap.org and click on Events or dial 211 for assistance. Registration ends Sept. 11. Space is limited.
MARSP meeting Sept. 11
MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, or MARSP, will meet Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Road 338 in Carbondale.
Registration will be 11 to 11:25 a.m. Central time and lunch will be served at 11:30 Central. Lunch will be a chicken dinner at a cost of $15.
The program for the day will be presented by Major Rhegan Stansbury, who will discuss Salvation Army programs which benefit those in need in Marinette and Menominee counties. A business meeting will follow the program. Members are encouraged to bring a paper product or cleaning product to donate to the homeless shelter.

Lakeside Fall Fest set
ESCANABA — The Lakeside Fall Fest will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Lakeside Christian Church, 2300 S. 21st St. in Escanaba.
The event will feature yard games; an inflatable obstacle course, weather permitting; and arcade-style Mario Kart on a big screen.

Movie Night in park
ESCANABA — The Escanaba Recreation Department’s Movie Nights in the Park will feature “Minecraft” starting about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Karas Bandshell in Ludington Park. Those attending are encouraged to bring blankets or a chair and snacks to come to the park to enjoy a movie on the big screen. The movie is sponsored by Highline. In case of rain, the movie will be canceled.
After School program
ESCANABA — The Catherine Bonifas Civic Center, 225 N. 21st St., will again offer its After School Program for youth in fourth through 12th grades starting Monday, Sept. 15.
This free program will be from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 6:30 p.m. Saturdays. During that time, snacks will be provided every day after school and participants will have access to the game room and gym. They can also tour the civic center.

St. Thomas pasty sale
ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church will have a pasty sale Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 17-18. Pasties are $6.50 each and can be with or without rutabaga. Pick up will be between 3 and 5 p.m. at the church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N. in Escanaba. No early sales will be done — first come, first served.

GLADSTONE — Cub Scout Pack 3471 and Troop 466 of Gladstone will have an open house night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in the Jones Elementary cafeteria, 400 S. 10th St. in Gladstone.
