Father’s Day all-you-can-eat breakfast

GLADSTONE — Dad eats free at the American Legion Post 71’s Father’s Day all-you-can-eat breakfast. The mean will be the last breakfast of the summer and will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, June 15.

Children age five and under eat free.

The post is located at 802 Delta Ave., in Gladstone.

Veterans groups announce meeting schedule

ESCANABA — Delta County veteran’s groups have announced their meeting schedule. Amvets meetings are held at the Amvet building and American Legion Post #71 – meetings are held at Gladstone Legion. All other military organizations listed meet at the Purple Heart building, 1202 Sheridan Road in Escanaba.

Here is when each group gathers:

— Disable American Chapter #24 – first Monday of month 7 p.m.

— American Legion Post #71 Gladstone – first Wednesday of month 6 p.m.

— American Legion Post #82 – first Tuesday of month 6 p.m.

— Veterans of Foreign Wars #2998 – second Monday of month 6 p.m.

— Delta County Veterans Counsel – second Monday of month at 7 p.m. (following VFW #2998)

— Marine Corp League Detachment #444 – fourth Wednesday of month 7 p.m.

— Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #1976 – last Thursday of month 6 p.m.

— Escanaba Amvets Post #123 – last Thursday of month 6 p.m.

Greene Scholarship available for Gladstone grads

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Scholarship and Student Loan Foundation proudly announces the availability of a Greene Scholarship, a two-year $1,000 scholarship for graduates of Gladstone High School pursuing further education. To qualify for this award, the recipient needs to be entering the third full-time year of college. Those undergraduates beyond that may also apply if they were not awarded the scholarship as incoming third-year students. This scholarship was created in memory of John and Lillian Greene and John and Jean Greene, and selection for the scholarship will be made by random draw.

LWV seeks book donations

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The League is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests that the books meet the donation criteria.

The book drop-off location has changed. Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, walk straight in and look for the sign. Pick-ups can also be arranged by calling Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.

Holy Name Class of 1966

ESCANABA — The Holy Name Class of 1966 is having a reunion meeting on Monday, June 30, at 4 p.m. at the Escanaba Country Club.

Free Clothes Closet hours

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church Clothes Closet is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closet offers free clothes, coats and shoes for children, adults and in all sizes, including infant and plus sizes. Vacation Bible school planned in Stonington

STONINGTON — Trinity Lutheran Church, Stonington, will be holding a free vacation Bible school the week of June 17-20, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The theme of the Bible school is an adventure “Up North.”

Kids of all ages are welcome to come, if you have a child who is five years old or younger, the church asks parents to be with them.

Snacks will be provided and a picnic will be held on the last day.

Escanaba Class of 1975

ESCANABA — Escanaba High School Class of 1975 is planning its 50th reunion. Classmates are asked to save the date of Saturday, Sept. 27. The event will be held at the House of Ludington.

The reunion committee will send out invites by the end of March.

GLADSTONE — Gladstone High School Class of 1970 is having a 55th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 23.
