Jenny Tourangeau

ESCANABA — Escanaba Elks Lodge #354, of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of the United States of America, has selected Jenny Tourangeau as the Elks Citizen of the Year for the 2023-2024 fraternal year.

Tourangeau grew up in Ford River and currently resides in Escanaba with her husband, Brian. They have three children, Ethan (22), Natalie (20), and Benjamin (14). Tourangeau previously worked for Head Start for almost 14 years before joining Phil & Lee’s six years ago. At Phil & Lee’s, she is currently the project coordinator.

Tourangeau has volunteered the last five years at the U.P. State Fair, working grandstand concessions or selling 50/50 tickets. She has also volunteered at Players de Noc ushering for the plays and at the Night of Magic and Wizardry put on by Players in conjunction with the Bonifas Arts Center. This past year, she also volunteered for the first time at UPtoberfest and the Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Expo.

For the last eight years, Tourangeau has run the U.P. Foster Closet of Delta County. The U.P. Foster Closet of Delta County is an all-volunteer-run and donation-funded 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They provide clothing, hygiene products, beds, and other items,  to children in Delta County who are in foster care or in the care of people who are not their biological or custodial parents free of charge.

When Tourangeau has spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, working in her flower gardens, and attending local music, plays and events. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and kayaking.

Tourangeau has dedicated an enormous amount of time and energy to the citizens of Delta County. That is why she was selected at this year’s Elks Citizen of the Year.
