ESCANABA — The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Bark River-Harris first and second grade classes recently celebrated the end of another successful year of the Reading Buddies Program. RSVP volunteers, who are age 55 and older, work with students to increase their reading skills and improve their confidence while reading aloud.

The students had a field trip to the Escanaba Public Library, where Pat Fittante, the children’s librarian, read to them and took them on a tour of the facility. The activity was followed by a pizza lunch and play time at the John D. Besse Park.

Anyone over the age of 55 who is interested in becoming a Reading Buddy is asked to call RSVP Director Lori Giuliani at Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency, 906-786-7080 Ext. 136.

Starting at $3.50/week.
