Karaoke at AMVETS

ESCANABA — AMVETS Post 123 of Escanaba will host KJ Karaoke on May 7. The doors open at 7 p.m.

MEA-Retired to meet May 16 in Escanaba

ESCANABA — The May 16 meeting of MEA-Retired will be held at Bay College in room 911 of the Joseph Heirman Center at 10 a.m. Kay Walker Telma, MEA-R State President will be the presenter. The meeting is open to all MEA-R members from the tri-county area.

906 SERA May meeting

HANCOCK — The 906 Chapter of State Employee Retirees Association (SERA) will have its May luncheon meeting at noon Tuesday, May 17 at Gino’s in Hancock.

906 SERA represents all retirees from State of Michigan service in the Upper Peninsula and is part of a network of 18 chapters statewide advocating for retired workers.

All retired state workers are welcome to attend the session, which will feature a presentation on insurance coverages for retirees.

Reservations are required by Monday noon May 9 and can be made with Edgar Sommers II at 906-250-5560. There is a cost for the luncheon and meeting.

This will be the first meeting of the group for Copper Country members in several years.

Cemetery accepting donations for sale

ESCANABA — Lakeview Cemetery is accepting donations for their 20th annual rummage sale now through June 4. Electronics, mattresses, or clothing will not be accepted. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the cemetery. The cemetery is self-supporting. Call Sharon at 906-553-4230 for more information.

The rummage sale is set for June 10 and 11.

COVID-19 test available

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Public Library has partnered with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to hand out free at home COVID-19 self-testing kits. Stop by the library and ask for a test kit, or call 428-4224 ext. 2 for curbside pickup. Residents may pick up one testing kit per household member daily, up to five kits a day. A library card is not required.
