Wells Lions Club gun and knife raffle winners

WELLS — The Wells Lions Club has announced the winners of its gun and knife raffle, which was supported by Old Glory Firearms of Gladstone.

The winners are:

1. Howa Legacy .308 — Robery Erickson

2. Browning Xbolt 7 mm — Steve Lieburn

3. Ruger American .270 — Karl Jaeger

4. Mossberg ATR .243 — Todd Henderson

5. Savage 17 HMR — Mark Maloney

6. Arrow Sambar Stag Crown (Bark River Knife) — Doug Atwood

7. Socom Green Canvas Micarta (Bark River Knife) — Lester Fraley

8. Smoke Jumper CPM 3V — Steve Carlson

9. USMC Combat Fighter Knife — Robin Bizeau

The top salesman for the raffle was Lion Paul Grahek, who sold roughly 500 tickets.

Delta Kappa scholarship

ESCANABA — The Delta Kappa Gamma Society has announced it will again award a local high school scholarship to a senior girl planning a career in education.

Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators who promote professional and personal growth of women educators. They support and encourage educational excellence and intercultural understanding. The Beta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is composed of Escanaba, Menominee, and Iron Mountain-Kingsford.

Previous local winners of this scholarship include: 2021 – Kendra Ann Bouchard (Escanaba), 2020 – Emlyn Verbrigghe (Escanaba), 2019 – Taylor Rae Myers (Escanaba), 2018 – Amber Lynn Smith (Bark River), 2017 – Erica Rubick (Rapid River), and 2016 – Mackenzie Leisner (Escanaba).

Senior girls planning a career in education from the Delta/Schoolcraft area can learn further details about this scholarship from their high school guidance counselor. Applications are due April 30, 2022.
