Gladstone Library to host virtual Storytime

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Public Library will host a virtual Christmas Storytime. Children ages 2 to 10 years old are invited to join in the festivities on Saturday, Dec. 19, starting at 10:30 a.m. by accessing the library Facebook page or the Gladstone School website, www.gladstoneschools.com.

Registration is required at libraryhelp@gladstone.k12.mi.us. Message your family name and number of children and the library will prepare a story time packet for you to pick up. This story time is sponsored by the Friends of the Gladstone Library.

Legion Service Officer sets Rapid River hours

RAPID RIVER — The American Legion Service Officer will visit Post 301 of Rapid River on the first, second, and fourth Wednesday of the month. The officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

American Legion Service Officers are specially trained to provide expert assistance, free of charge, to veterans and their families. While the majority of a service officer’s work involves application for VA disability benefits, the officers also provide information, referrals and resources on education, employment and business, death benefits and other important topics.

Ringing for the lost

ESCANABA — Bethany Lutheran Church, of Escanaba, rings chimes for those who have passed away in Delta County due to COVID-19 at noon each weekday. According to the church, the bells are a way to honor those lost to the pandemic and remember the families affected by the deaths.
