Wells Lions 52 Club Raffle winners named

WELLS — The winners of the Wells Lions 52 Club Raffle for the week of Jan. 13 are Rob Salmi of Gladstone and Kathy Strasler of Escanaba. The winners received $250 each. This was week 24 of the raffle.

Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, Jan. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba. The public is welcome to attend.

Dress sale Saturday

BARK RIVER — The Bark River-Harris Leo Club will be holding a dress sale this Saturday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bark River-Harris school cafeteria. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Leo projects throughout the community.

Dresses for sale can be dropped off at the back of the school Friday, Jan. 17 from 4-6 p.m. EST or Saturday before 10 a.m. EST. Unsold dresses must be picked up by 6 p.m. EST on the 18th or they will be donated to Bay Cliff Health Camp.

This is a consignment sale and there are fees to sell dresses. Call 906-399-2559 for more information.

DAR plans meeting

MARQUETTE — The Onagomingkway Chapter, DAR, will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Feb. 8 from noon until three p.m. at the Marquette Big Boy Restaurant, 1950 US-41 W, Marquette. Members should plan on ordering a meal.

Gladstone American Legion spaghetti dinner

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone American Legion Riders is holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser, on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Gladstone American Legion, 802 Delta Ave. Call 906-428-1050, for more information.

A Journey Through Grief

ESCANABA — “A Journey Through Grief” is a bereavement support group presented on behalf of UP Health System Hospice. This is a non-denominational support group that is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one.

The group provides educational materials and guide discussions on a variety of topics to assist those in the grieving process.

“A Journey Through Grief” is offered the last Thursday of every month. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, 1820 9th Avenue North, Escanaba.

The group will be facilitated by Lewis Hague, UP Health System Hospice bereavement coordinator, and coordinated by Gayle DeShambo, account executive for UP Health System Hospice.

This support group is open to anyone in the community that is grieving the loss of a loved one.

ESCANABA — Escanaba Schools Title VI Indian Education Parent Committee’s next meeting is set for 5:15 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20. It will be held in the second-floor teacher lounge at the Upper Elementary, 1500 Ludington St.

GHS Class of 1970 50th class reunion meeting

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone High School Class of 1970 is holding a 50th class reunion meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Gladstone Yacht Club. All classmates are encouraged to attend to help plan this milestone reunion.
