Memorial United Methodist cookie sale

GLADSTONE — The Annual Christmas Cookie and Bake Sale will be held on Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Smith Hall at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Dr., Gladstone.

The cookies are sold by the pound along with homemade breads, coffee cake, pies, and candies. Crafts will also be sold.

Meat pies for sale

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Auxiliary, Gladstone is making meat pies, which will be available on Friday, Dec. 6. To order, call 906-428-1050.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave in Gladstone.

Relic Riders to meet

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Relic Riders will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the clubhouse to discuss plans for the Rapid River Relics Snowmobile Show/Swap on Jan. 25, 2020 at the Rapid River Lions Club.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week.

There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

Used books sought

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. The League is also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

Books can be delivered to the Daily Press Business Office at 600 Ludington Street during normal business hours.

Salvation Army social services available

ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building.

The Soup Kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Seventh Day Adventist food pantry hours

ESCANABA — The Community Service Center food pantry adjacent to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Escanaba is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday and Saturday.

Legion opens library

RAPID RIVER — Walter W. Cole American Legion Post 301 in Rapid River has opened a library in the legion hall.

The library is free to all and is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Service Officer Wednesday, as well as any other days that the hall is open to the public
