Hunters’ Dinner set

ROCK — The Rock Bible Chapel, 4144 East Maple Ridge Road — turn east at the light — will be holding its Hunters’ Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a free dinner, door prizes, and a taxidermy display by Lusardi Taxidermy of Rock. The speaker will be Pastor Jason LaFlamme from Munising Baptist Church.

Quilts and Treasures silent auction Nov. 16-17

GLADSTONE — There will be a silent auction of quilts and other items Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave. in Gladstone.

The public is welcome to come see the quilts, baby blankets, hot pads, pillows, table runners, and vintage items available.

Bidders will place a bid with their phone number and need not be present to win. Bidding will end Sunday, Nov. 17 at noon.

All proceeds go to Lutheran World Relief for the shipping of quilts, baby care and health kits to places in need.

Forest Service Retirees Christmas Luncheon

WELLS — The annual Forest Service Retirees Christmas Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Buck Inn in Wells starting at 11:30 a.m. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Escanaba River Legion, Auxiliary to gather

ARNOLD — The Escanaba River American Legion Post 115 and the Auxiliary will meet at the Wells School in Arnold at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 for a program and the regular monthly meeting.

Foster Grandparent in-service meeting set

ESCANABA — The Delta County Foster Grandparent Program will have an in-service meeting on Tueday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Escanaba Senior Center, 225 North 21st Street, Escanaba.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Rapid Readers’ November meeting

RAPID RIVER — “Madame Fourcade’s Secret War” by Lynne Olson is November’s discussion choice for the Rapid Readers. The meeting will take place Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. New members are welcome.

Pie and bake sale

POWERS — In past years, the Grace Lutheran Church Ladies held a chili feed and bake sale early in deer hunting season for the hunters and area residents to enjoy and to support the Lutheran Youth Group. This year, the Lutheran Ladies are instead holding a pie and bake sale the day before Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, at the church to support the youth group.

People can get their pies and other baked goods to help reduce the hustle and bustle of cooking for Thanksgiving by stopping in at the “Little White Church,” located on Highway U.S. 2 and Main Street in Powers, MI.

St. Thomas pasty sale

ESCANABA — St. Thomas Church will hold a pasty sale Nov. 11 and 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. Plain and rutabaga pasties will be available. Pick up will be at St. Thomas Parish Hall, 1820 9th Avenue North in Escanaba. To order, call 789-9205.
