Highland Golf Club ­rummage sale donations

ESCANABA — The Highland Golf Club is looking for donations for its annual club fundraiser rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The club is seeking golf items, golf clothing, small appliances, tools, small furniture, decorations, and household items. The club will not accept clothing that is not specific to golf, couches, mattresses, large appliances, TVs, or computers.

Wells Lions 52 Club ­raffle winners named

WELLS — The winners of the Wells Lions Club 52 Club raffle for Sept. 9 are Brian Jensen of Melrose, Iowa and Theresa Chenier of Gladstone. Jensen and Melrose each won $250. This was week six of the raffle.

Music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 in Escanaba will be hosting the band “Country Express” on Sept. 13. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Salem Lutheran Men to host cookout Sept. 22

BARK RIVER — The Last Supper of the Summer Cookout, sponsored by the Bark River Salem Lutheran Men, will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River. The church is located across from the Bark River Senior Center.

All are welcome at the cookout. A free will donation will be collected.

Escanaba Eagles to hold breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

American Legion to meet

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71 will resume its monthly meetings on Sept. 12. The meeting will start at 6 p.m.

GFWC announces September meeting

ESCANABA — The first general meeting of the season for the Escanaba Woman’s Club will be held at Pacino’s Restaurant inside the Magnuson Grand Pioneer Inn and Suites, Escanaba, on Thursday, Sept. 12. Social hour will begin at 5:15 p.m. and the dinner meeting at 6 p.m. There is a cost for dinner. Guests are welcome.

Charity Ball “Party with a Purpose” will be Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Terrace Bay Hotel. Tickets will be available at the dinner meeting and also available at Gust Asp Party Store, The Morrison Shop, Lisa Ann, and Trotter’s Floral after Sept. 12. Rapid Readers to meet

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid Readers’ novel for September is Louise Penny’s “The Cruelest Month.” The next meeting will take place at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River, Thursday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. The new book lists will be available. Sons of the American Legion to meet Sept. 12

GLADSTONE — The next meeting of the Gladstone Sons of the American Legion Squadron #71 will be Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Sons meet at American Legion, 802 Delta Ave. Gladstone. If you are a male descendant of a veteran who served in the time of war or conflict, you are eligible for membership.
