Amvets to have Spring Fling weekend

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 N. Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is having a Spring Fling weekend Friday and Saturday March 29 and 30.

Both days will feature classic rock, country, and variety music by the Bearwalkers band.

The event will take place Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 12 p.m. The public is welcome.

Dance in Rock April 14

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, April 14 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Music will be provided by Just The Two Of Us. There is a cost at the door, and there will be a free will donation lunch. For more info, call Alice at 356-6588. All proceeds benefit the Senior Corporation.

Historical presentation planned for March 20

ESCANABA — The Delta County Historical Society’s Winter Outreach Series will feature “Escanaba in the 1920s: Shipping, Shopping and Sewers,” with Charles Lindquist Wednesday, March 20 at 7 p.m.

The presentation will take place in room 952 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College. The public is welcome and there is no charge to attend the presentation.

Healing service planned

ESCANABA — Fr. Ryan Ford will be leading a healing service at St. Anne Church, 817 South Lincoln Road, Escanaba on Thursday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. The service is not a mass and is for those in need of a physical, emotional, relational or spiritual healing.

Eagles to hold memorial service March 23

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles will conduct a memorial service of love and remembrance for all deceased Aerie and Auxiliary members on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m. in the Eagles Hall.

Deceased members to be honored are Aeries Philip Cretens, Gene Jones, William L. Meiers Sr., James R. Profit, and Albert E. Taylor. The Auxiliary members who will be honored include Bernice “Bea” Berish, Cynthia Ellison, Carole Kamp, Katherine A. “Prunie” Kang, Delores “Dee” Millette, Joan O’Donnell, Ann M. Plourde, Dorla Rutkowski, Debbie Sheldon, and Betty Wellman.

Chairman Mike Elliott encourages all family members and friends to attend the service, which is open to the public.

Lunch will be served following the service.

Advanced Lions Club to meet March 28

WELLS — All volunteer and service-minded individuals are welcome to join the friends and family-based Advanced Lions Club.

The next one-hour gathering is scheduled for Thursday, March 28 at 6 p.m. at the Wells Township Hall. Email inquiries to bdnlclub@yahoo.com.

Rotary Club offers ­scholarships

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Rotary Club is awarding four separate $1,000 scholarships — payable in two $500 installments — to any Delta County high school senior graduating from a school in Delta County.

Applying is easy, available to a wide range of students, and is not limited by academic success or grade point average. Students must be enrolled full time (12 or more credits) in college the following fall and winter semesters to be eligible.
