Breakfast planned for Aug. 12 in Rapid River

RAPID RIVER — Join Rapid River American Legion Post 301 as they celebrate school teachers at the 2nd Sunday ‘All You Can Eat’ Breakfast, Sunday Aug. 12 at the Rapid River Legion Post 301 hall from 8 a.m. to noon.

There is a fee for the breakfast, but children age four and under eat free.

Vintage Day returns to IXL Historical Museum

HERMANSVILLE — The IXL Historical Museum in Hermansville will host its annual Vintage Day on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

The theme this year is vintage wedding gowns borrowed from community members and displayed throughout the buildings. Other displays will include a working blacksmith forge, vintage vehicles, quilts and other handmade items.

Hot pasties, cold soda, snacks, and ice cream will be available for purchase. There will also be the annual homemade cookie sale in the “little house.”

Live music will be provided by Marian Barribeau and John Losinicki & Friends. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the day.

Amvets featuring Cedar Creek band tonight

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, 1315 North Lincoln Road, Escanaba, is featuring Cedar Creek, a country band, from 7 to 11 p.m. tonight. The pubic is welcome.

Rapid Readers to meet on Aug. 9 in Rapid River

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Readers’ novel for August is “Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance” by Ruth Lang. Discussion takes place at Jack’s Restaurant on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m.

Readers’ choice for September is Felix Francis’ “Triple Crown.”

American Legion Post 71 meeting Monday

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 In Gladstone will hold an executive board meeting 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. The regular meeting will be held following at 7 p.m.

Regular meetings are the first Monday of every month.

Mix and Mingle event

ESCANABA — The Mix and Mingle Recreating in the Great Outdoors event has been cancelled for Aug. 4.

Grief group to meet Aug. 14 in Escanaba

ESCANABA — The OSF Home Care Community Grief Group can provide a warm, caring and confidential environment that allows you the opportunity to be supported by others who understand. You are not alone in this process.

OSF Home Care – 2018 Community Grief Group meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. EST at Central United Methodist Church, 322 S. Lincoln Road, Escanaba. The next meeting will take place on Aug. 14.

Daily activities planned at the senior center

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Senior Center has various activities going on every week. Everyday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., walking is available, and there is also a treadmill. Morning coffee is available everyday.

Every Tuesday and Friday, 15 games of bingo are played, starting at 12:45 p.m.

On Wednesday afternoons, enjoy a game of cards.

Craft day is the third Monday of the month.

Foot Clinic is on the third Tuesday of the month. The nurse arrives at 9 a.m. Bring a towel. Call the center to register for the foot clinic.
