East Ludington Gallery lecture series continues

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, located at 1007 Ludington Street in Escanaba, is having a lecture series with lectures on the third Thursday of every month.

The next lecture will take place on on Aug. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. This lecture will be “Working with Copper,” presented by Steve Messimer. The talk will discuss the characteristics of copper work, tools, and more. It is open to the public free of charge.

American Legion Post 71 meeting Monday

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 In Gladstone will hold an executive board meeting 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. The regular meeting will be held following at 7 p.m.

Regular meetings are the first Monday of every month.

Esky Class of ’67 Ladies Lunch Aug. 10

ESCANABA — Ladies from Escanaba’s Class of ’67 will meet for lunch on Friday, Aug. 10, at noon at Mo’s Pub in Escanaba. RSVP to 906-399-4806 by Aug. 8.

St. Anthony’s pasty sale scheduled for August

WELLS — St. Anthony’s Church is holding a pasty sale on Thursday, Aug. 16, and Friday, Aug. 17. Pasties are available with or without rutabaga.

Pickup is at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba from 2 to 5 p.m. To pre-order, call Debbie at 399-4259.

No Taco Tuesdays

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will not be having Taco Tuesdays, for the months of July and August.

Day Services seeks printed materials

ESCANABA — Community Action Agency Adult Day Services, formerly Perspectives Adult Care Center is in need of old greeting cards and magazines to be used in different activities.

The pictures will be used to make notepads, bookmarks, and daily placemats. Cards do not have to be taken apart, as they will be incorporated into an activity.

Items may be dropped off at Community Action Adult Day Services, located at the Gary Abrahamson Jr. Memory Care Center, 2635 1st Ave. S. in Escanaba (past West Highland, the last building on the left behind Bishop Noa Home) or at any senior center in the Delta County area.

Clothes Closet open to public in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Clothes Closet is open each Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gently used clothing is available for all. The church is located at 1920 Lake Shore Drive.

American Legion meets

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River American Legion meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Aug. 7.

Veterans Council to hold meeting Aug. 8

ESCANABA — Delta County Veterans Council will hold its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Road.

Rapid Readers meet on Aug. 9 in Rapid River

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Readers’ novel for August is “Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance” by Ruth Lang. Discussion takes place at Jack’s Restaurant on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m.

Readers’ choice for September is Felix Francis’ “Triple Crown.”
