Tuesday Night Bingo hours have changed

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Senior Center Tuesday night bingo hours have changed. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., selling starts at 5 p.m., and calling is at 6 p.m. Call 906-420-2730 for more information.

Concert at First Presbyterian

ESCANABA — Spotlights’ Songs and Sweets Concert will be on Monday, April 16th at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. All are welcome.

Amvets host Country Express this Friday

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 at 1315 North Lincoln Road Escanaba are featuring Country Express Band 7 p.m. to 11 pm. on Friday April 13. Guests are welcome to join with a donation. Veterans and the public are welcome.

Memorial UMC to hold movie night Saturday

GLADSTONE — On Saturday, April 14, a free movie night featuring the kids’ movie “Ferdinand” will be shown at Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone. Teen movie “Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle” will also be shown. Both events begin at 6 p.m.

Scholarship offered for female education major

ESCANABA — The Delta Kappa Gamma Society is pleased to announce that it will again award a local high school scholarship to a senior girl planning a career in education. Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators who promote professional and personal growth of women educators. They support and encourage educational excellence and inter-cultural understanding. The Beta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is composed of Escanaba, Menominee, and Iron Mountain-Kingsford.

Previous local winners of this scholarship were 2017 – Erica Rubick, Rapid River, 2016 – Mackenzie Leisner of Escanaba, 2015 – Mikaela Jefferson, Escanaba, 2014 – Kristen Leigh Bergstrom,Escanaba, 2013 – Anissa Lynne Godfrey, Gladstone, 2012 – Margaret A. Rose, Escanaba, 2011 – Lauren Kleinman, Escanaba, 2010 – Jordan Dalgord, Rapid River, 2009 – Whitney Veihl, Bark River, and 2008 – Emily Robinso, Bark River.

Senior girls planning a career in education from the Delta Schoolcraft area can find further details about this scholarship from their high school guidance counselors. Applications are due April 29, 2018. If you have any questions, call Rose at 789-5674 or Jeanne at 789-0110.

Opportunity offered to save life memories

ESCANABA — OSF Hospice is offering the “Life Memories” program. The Life Memories program allows OSF Hospice patients who are in the final stages of life the opportunity to relive and relate their memories for their loved ones. Volunteers conduct the person’s “life story” interviews and record them to DVD. The program is a free service to their patients and their families. All information is kept confidential. Those interested in participating should contact OSF Hospice at 786-3915.
