Taco Tuesday hosted by Legion Post 71 returns

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 welcomes the public to Taco Tuesday, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each week at the Gladstone Legion Hall, 802 Delta Ave. Both hard and soft tacos are available, along with nachos and nachos supreme.

Tai Chi class every Thursday in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — Tai Chi classes meet each Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Gladstone Senior Center. Call Donna Aird at 420-2730 if you would like more information.

AAUW plans event at Leigh’s Garden Winery

ESCANABA — On Thursday, April 19, AAUW (American Association of University Women) will host a member/guest gathering at Leigh’s Garden Winery.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. and will include wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, a brief history of the Escanaba area branch, information about local AAUW activities, and a chance for guests to obtain information about membership. Members and guests who wish to attend the April 19 meeting should call 241-4276.

Founded in 1881, AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher. Its mission is to promote gender equity in all areas-including social, economic, educational, and political. The organization has been at the forefront sponsoring research in the following: sexual harassment, bullying, pay equity, public education support and life-long learning. It is widely recognized for its advocacy of women and girls.

Rock Lions Club ­breakfast buffet Sunday

ROCK — The Rock Lions monthly Third-Sunday, all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will take place on Sunday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rock Lions Club on Hwy. M-35 in Rock. The buffet includes scrambled eggs, omelets made to order, bacon, sausage, ham, hash brown potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy, pancakes, French toast, English muffins, cereal, a variety of fruits, dessert items, and coffee, tea, milk and juice. There is a cost for the buffet, but children five and under eat free.

The monthly breakfast is held at the Rock Lions Clubhouse. The facility is available for rent by calling Jerry at 356-6475. The Rock Lions Club is a non-profit service organization that provides funding for charitable organizations and local needs.

St. Anthony’s Church pasty sale approaching

WELLS — St. Anthony’s church is having a pasty sale on Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20.

Pasties will be sold with or without rutabaga (while supplies last).

Pick-up is at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba from noon to 4 p.m. To be guaranteed pasties, preorder by calling Debbie at 906-399-4259.

USS Iwo Jima ­shipmates reunion

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — There will be a reunion of USS Iwo Jima (LPH2/LHD7) shipmates for all ship’s company and Embarked Navy and Marine Corps personnel who were on board the LPH2 or LHD7. The reunion will be held at the Doubletree Hotel Jacksonville Riverfront, Jacksonville, Fla. on Oct. 10-13.
