Manistique GFWC sock hop this Saturday

MANISTIQUE — GFWC Manistique Women’s Club is sponsoring a sock hop on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Elks Club on Walnut St., Manistique.

A donation will get you in to dance to ’60s music by DJ Mike and a hot dog, chips and a soda. There will be dance contests, Dancing with the Stars, raffles and 50/50.

All proceeds will go to the Manistique Senior Center and the Arts Club. For tickets, call 906-235-9843 or 906-341-6701.

Right to Life of Delta County meets March 6

ESCANABA — Right to Life of Delta County will meet Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in Room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College in Escanaba.

Plans will be made for up coming projects and events including the Right to Life of Michigan 29th annual High School Oratory Contest. The local contest will be held Tuesday, March 20 at Bay de Noc Community College.

Safe Sitter babysitting class Friday at Bay

ESCANABA — On Friday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. a Safe Sitter course will be available. The course will provide participants with curriculum that is appropriate for the intellectual and emotional abilities of adolescents (must be 11 years old or older).

The curriculum is based on up-to-date information and injury prevention for specific age groups and emphasizes to adolescent the profound responsibility of nurturing and protecting children.

The class will be held at Bay College. There is a fee to attend. A pizza and juice lunch will be provided.

Elks Auxiliary meeting and dinner March 1

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks Auxiliary will hold its monthly dinner/meeting on Thursday, March 1 at the Elks Lodge. Social time will be at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m., and the meeting to follow. The meeting will feature a St. Patrick’s Day theme.

Reservations must be made by calling Shirley Gollach at 789-9306 by noon on Monday, Feb. 26. The automatic reservation list is in effect. Interested members are always welcome to attend.

American Legion offers Lenten fish fries

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 in Gladstone will be hosting fish fries every Friday during Lent from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Meals will be walleye and whitefish, along with sides of baked potato or french fries, beans, coleslaw and rolls.

Taco Tuesday hosted by Legion Post 71 returns

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 welcomes the public to Taco Tuesday serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each week at the Gladstone Legion Hall, 802 Delta Ave. Both hard and soft tacos are available, along with nachos and nachos supreme.
