The Annual Advent-Christmas Concerts

ESCANABA — The Annual Advent-Christmas Concerts Sanctuary Choir and First Bells will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10 starting at 7 p.m at the First Presbyterian Church, 819 1st Ave. South. Refreshments to follow.

Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club to meet

GLADSTONE — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is Monday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. The meeting is held in the Joseph Heirman Building, room 961 at Bay College. The public is always invited to the meetings and the club is always looking for new members. If you have any coins or stamps needing to be appraised come to the meetings. MARSP Christmas party planned for Wednesday

MANISTIQUE — A Christmas gathering for Manistique Area Retired School Personnel (MARSP) members from Schoolcraft and Eastern Delta counties will take place at the Comfort Inn in Manistique on Wednesday, Dec. 13. at 11:30 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or paper products for area food pantries.

Sons of the American Legion meets Dec. 13

GLADSTONE — The next meeting of the Gladstone Sons of the American Legion Squadron #71 is Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. The Sons meet at the American Legion, 802 Delta Ave., Gladstone. If you are a male descendant of a veteran who served in the time of war or conflict, you are eligible for membership.

Delta Coin Club meets Tuesday in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — Our next meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. Coin collectors wanted. The club meets every second Tuesday at 817 Delta Ave., Gladstone. New members or anyone interested in coins are always welcome. Preparations for our coin show continue that will be in Oct. Delta Kappa Gamma scholarship offered

ESCANABA — The Delta Kappa Gamma Society is pleased to announce that it will again award a local high school scholarship to a senior girl planning a career in education. Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators who promote professional and personal growth of women educators. They support and encourage educational excellence and inter-cultural understanding. The Beta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is composed of Escanaba, Menominee, and Iron Mountain-Kingsford.

Previous local winners of this scholarship were 2017 – Erica Rubick, Rapid River, 2016 – Mackenzie Leisner of Escanaba, 2015 – Mikaela Jefferson, Escanaba, 2014 – Kristen Leigh Bergstrom,Escanaba, 2013 – Anissa Lynne Godfrey, Gladstone, 2012 – Margaret A. Rose, Escanaba, 2011 – Lauren Kleinman, Escanaba, 2010 – Jordan Dalgord, Rapid River, 2009 – Whitney Veihl, Bark River, and 2008 – Emily Robinso, Bark River.
