Veterans Council to

hold meeting April 12

Line Dancing at the

senior center

ESCANABA — Learn dance steps while improving strength, balance, and muscle tone. Monday, Wednesday or Thursdays from 12:45 to 2 p.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.

League of Women

looking for donations

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVD’s and music CD’s to be sold at its annual book sale in August. They are also in need of large print books and western fiction, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

They can be delivered to Pat Rudden at Northern Michigan Bank & Trust, 1921 3rd Ave N. or you can call her at 280-1789 for pick up.

Bridge meetings

ESCANABA — Bridge for beginners, those who want to brush up, or just get more playing in will meet Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Civic Center In Escanaba. For more information, call 786-8448 or 399-9535.

Mayor Recognition

Day Thursday April 6

ESCANABA — The Delta County Foster Grandparent Program, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and Senior Companion Program will be participating in an event called Mayor Recognition Day for National Service. The event will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Escanaba City Hall, 410 Ludington Street, Escanaba.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

The Foster Grandparent Program, RSVP, and Senior Companion Program are administered by MDS Community Action Agency, 507 First Ave. North, Escanaba. If you have any questions, contact Peggy Ramsden, director, or Sara DeMenter, volunteer supervisor at 786-7080.

Bay Sages hold meeting

ESCANABA — The Bay Sages will meet on April 6 at 10 a.m. at Bay College at the Heirman University Center. The speaker will be Chris Holmes, author of “Company Towns of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.”

Cantata Choir will

perform Sunday

ROCK — The Rock-Perkins Area Cantata Choir will present their Easter Cantata, this year performing “Sacred Places,” by Joseph P. Martin, on Sunday, April 9. The two performances will be at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock, and at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins. Fellowship and refreshments will follow each performance, and a free will offering will be accepted to cover the cost of the music. Come and enjoy this beautiful re-telling in song of the events of Holy Week and Easter.

Stamp and coin club

offers appraisals

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is planned for Monday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is held in the Joseph Heirman Building, room 961, at Bay College. The public is always invited to the meetings, and the group is looking for new members. Anyone with coins or stamps needing to be appraised can bring them to the meeting.

HERMANSVILLE — The IXL Historical Museum’s next monthly meeting will be on Wednesday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m. CST at the Wildwood Restaurant in Hermansville. The public is welcome to attend.
