Troiano to perform for annual Summer Organ Recital
ESCANABA — Organist David Troiano will be performing the annual Summer Organ Recital at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish on Tuesday, June 17. Troiano’s performances have garnered notice for their clean performances, musicality and interesting programing. He has appeared throughout the United States; in Canada, Portugal, Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Argentina, and Ecuador, Finland and Mexico.
Dr. Troiano currently serves as director at Liturgical Music and Choirs at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Shelby Township, Mich. He served as Instructor of Liturgical Chant at SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary until its closing in 2022. He earned a masters degree in voice performance from Wayne State University and currently teaches there as an adjunct professor of voice.
Troiano will be on a pipe organ tour of Upper Michigan, starting here in Escanaba and moving on to play recitals at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette and concluding at Holy Name of Mary in Sault Ste. Marie. His program will feature organ works of the 1600s through the 1990s and include composers such as Dubois, Wesley, Couperin and Langlais.
The Escanaba recital will be played on the 2016 Lauck organ, which uses the pipes of the former St. Patrick’s organ, at the front of the church, with the console front and center so the audience will be able to see the organist.
Tuesday, June 17, 7 p.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick’s, 709 First Avenue South, Escanaba. The performance is free of charge; a free-will offering will be accepted to cover concert expenses.
