ESCANABA — The Bonifas Arts Center in Escanaba will be hosting three paper marbling art classes on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1. The instructor for the course is Heidi Reichenbach Finley.

The first session, “Introduction to Marbling on Paper,” will take place Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Artists will learn how to float paint on water, use specialized tools to make patterns and be able to print them on paper. Classes are aimed at any talent level. Marbling is somewhat messy, so participants should wear unimportant clothing and shoes.

The second course, “Marbled Jewelry,” will take place immediately following the “Introduction to Marbling on Paper” class. Students who attend both classes will be able to use their own marbled paper creations to create unique resin necklaces or earrings. However, students who do not attend the earlier class will have access to pre-marbled paper for their projects.

On Friday, students will be able to further their understanding of paper marbling techniques. “Introduction to Marbling on Paper/Open Marbling Studio” takes place Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will receive a lesson in the basics or continue learning from the Thursday session with more techniques and patterns demonstrated.

Adults and children 12 and over with a registered adult are welcome to join. There is a fee to attend.
