Though there is something almost magical about crossing paths with a butterfly, most people stop to enjoy the sight without giving the encounter much thought. Little Bay de Noc: Walleye anglers reported some success casting jerk baits, using electronics to position their lures close to target fish. Anglers also caught walleye slow-trolling crawler harnesses near drop-offs. Perch anglers found success near reefs and river mouths, as well as locating schools along the deep sides of drop-offs and roaming in basin-like areas. North Deadhorse Road in Delta County closed July 1 – Aug. 8

A section of North Deadhorse Road will be closing in northern Delta County beginning Monday, July 1, through Thursday, Aug. 8, to replace two culverts on Deadhorse Creek. The project site is located within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Escanaba Forest Resources Division Mana Deadhorse Creek is a designated trout stream, but the existing culvert is too small and perched, preventing fish passage and causing the road to wash out during periods of high water. Little Bay de Noc: Anglers reported slower walleye fishing this week, with limited catches. However, some anglers found success using sonar to accurately present casted lures to walleye, while others employed slow trolling with crawler harnesses near the bottom. Most fish were observed along or near steep drop-offs. Yellow perch anglers reported fair to good fishing, catching fish in relatively deep water. Smallmouth bass anglers also reported good fishing.
