Flivvers knock Emeralds out in district action

IRON MOUNTAIN — Shots on goal were a scarce commodity for the Manistique Emeralds here Tuesday night as they dropped a 2-0 decision to the Kingsford Flivvers in a Division 3 regional opener. The victory sends the Flivvers (11-12) to Marquette where they’ll face the host Sentinels (17-7-3) in a semifinal contest at 6 p.m. Kingsford defeated the Sentinels 2-1 in their lone regular season meeting at Mountain View Arena Dec. 23.
