Book signing to feature several local authors

ESCANABA — Saturday, July 21, will be the first Local Writer’s Book Signing at Canterbury Book Store. There are a growing number of local writers who now have several self-publishing vehicles available to them, and Canterbury Book Store has many of them available for sale.

Canterbury Book Store has recently been purchased by Rebekah Bender and Jesse Traub.

“It is a great opportunity for exposure for local writers and for the public to see the variety of writing that is being done.” said Mollie Larsen, event organizer. “Several of the authors have been writing for years and are now able to publish their books or stories. Others have begun writing with retirement and are using their own experiences as a starting point for a good story.”

The local artists participating are: James R. Nelson, who has eight mystery novels; Kenneth Bloom, with seven novels of mixed genres; Naomi Love, who has recently published a book of remembrances that include her own photos. Mollie Larsen has two books of short stories and Loren Veeser has three children’s books. Nino Green has two mysteries based around the legal system and John King has his first mystery book available. Gail Gollata has a book of essays taken from articles written for the Iron Mountain paper. All the artists will be available to speak with visitors about their own books or about writing and publishing. Books will be available for sale from Canterbury and the authors will be happy to sign them.
