Great Lakes Invitational college hockey tournament to be held at Michigan, Michigan State arenas

HOUGHTON — Cohost Michigan Tech announced recently that the 56th annual Great Lakes Invitational college hockey tournament will be played in a showcase format at the homes of the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans, rather than in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena.

On the event’s opening day, Wednesday, Dec. 29, the Huskies face the Wolverines at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor while Western Michigan plays the Spartans at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing.

On the second day, Thursday, Dec. 30, MTU plays at Michigan State and WMU is at Michigan.

Tickets for the games will be available through the schools’ ticket offices at a later date. Video streaming and TV viewing options will also be announced later.

The 2020 GLI was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
