PGA event to help Detroiters access tech resources
DETROIT (AP) — Access to technology, and internet and digital literacy resources in Detroit are expected to increase through investments made from an annual golf event.
The Connect 313 Fund will focus on collecting accurate neighborhood-level data on technology and internet access, building and supporting neighborhood technology hubs, and empowering residents to become neighborhood digital literacy ambassadors, according to officials with the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The fund was developed in partnership with the city and private and nonprofit organizations. It is part of the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s “Changing the Course” initiative.
Initial funding for Connect 313 will come from the Rocket Mortgage Classic PGA Tour event scheduled July 2-5 at the Detroit Golf Club, donations from viewers and pledges from a Rocket Mortgage golf challenge.
Rocket Mortgage is the PGA Tour event’s title sponsor.
