Lewis Lundberg

Lewis L. Lundberg, 88, of Indianapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Lewis retired after a very successful career in Naval Aviation, which took him from Indianapolis to Lakehurst, NJ and finally to the Pentagon where he earned the Distinguished Public Service Award (the highest honor the Navy can bestow upon a civilian).

Born in Burton, Michigan on June 30, 1937, he spent his summers at the family homestead in Rapid River, Michigan where he was mentored by his grandfather. He attended Bendle High School and graduated from Michigan State University with an Electrical Engineering degree. He met Lois Schafer in Rapid River, and they were married on January 3, 1959.

Lewis was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and enjoyed woodworking, music, and travelling.

Lewis was proceeded in death by his first wife of 57 years, Lois. He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Tressler), his children, Paul Lundberg, Beth (Rick) Monroe, and John (Lee) Lundberg; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lewis L. Lundberg will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday May 16th. at the Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Rafuse officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the Bay de Noc Room located in the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery.
