Portage Marsh Wildlife Management Area Birding event

ESCANABA — Enjoy a morning of birding with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Audubon Great Lakes for the Portage Marsh Wildlife Management Area Birding Event.

The event will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. No RSVP is required.

Attendees can hike the DNR’s one-mile loop trail, which includes 0.6 miles of unpaved trails along a historic dike system in Portage Marsh and a 0.4-mile beach walk along Lake Michigan.

Professional birding instruction and technical assistance will be available. The DNR will have binoculars for loan and spotting scope stations on their viewing platforms. Portable restrooms, picnic tables and trash receptacles will also be available.

To ensure attendees have the best possible experience, wear appropriate clothing and shoes and dress for the weather.

All ages are welcome. From M-35, head east on Portage Point 11.4 Ln.
