Sept. 29, 1966 -- Bernie St. Onge rolled a 722 series in the Major League at the Bowl-a-rama Lanes, hitting games of 254, 223 and 245.
Oct. 3, 1966 -- Paul Miller ran for 141 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown, as the Escanaba Eskymos rolled to a 55-0 football victory over the Stephenson Eagles. Miller also caught TD passes of 34 and 49 yards from Jim Boyle, who added a 13-yard TD run on a keeper. Jim Olsen added six and 26-yard TD runs. Bob Irish scored from 10 yards away and Bryan Bender crossed the goal line from a yard out.
The Manistique Emeralds broke into the win column for the first time this season in a 20-9 upset victory over the Gladstone Braves. Bob Cowman converted 31-of-39 passes for 240 yards, including TD aerials of 13 and 20 yards to Gary Sample, and scored on a quarterback sneak. Gary Larson scored on a 26-yard run and Roy DeDitt kicked a field goal for the Braves.
The Holy Name Crusaders suffered their first loss this season, falling to the Menominee Maroons 20-7. Bob Bricco scored Holy Name's TD on a 68-yard interception return.
Sept. 28, 1981 - Mark Whitens ran TDs of 35, 39 and four yards as the Powers North Central Jets whipped the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears 44-8. Whitens also caught a 30-yard TD pass from Larry Raiche, who also threw TD passes of 25 yards to Dave Granquist and eight to Marty Dombrowski. Cory Potvin recovered a fumble and returned it 50 yards for Big Bay's TD.
Sept. 29, 1981 -- Patti Trotter scored 20 points as the Gladstone girls edged Rock Mid Peninsula 46-44 in a non-conference basketball match-up. Mary VanDamme led the Wolverines with 14 points and Teri Winkelbauer added 13.
Sept. 30, 1981 -- Pam Michaels poured in 21 points, leading the Trenary Comets past the Bark River-Harris Broncos 68-43. Robin Thompson hit 15 and Sharon Thompson added 14. Marilyn Klee paced the Broncos with 16 points and Cheryl Luchay tallied 13.
Oct. 3, 1981 -- Dean Altobelli rushed for 143 yards and three TDs on 11 carries, leading the Escanaba Eskymos to a 28-0 football triumph over the Kingsford Flivvers. Altobelli scored on a 68-yard dash and from 23 and five yards and Mike Growden added a one-yard TD run.
