ESCANABA -- It was an offensive display for the Escanaba Eskymos in their 69-34 triumph over the Sault Ste Marie Blue Devils in a Big North Conference game here Friday.

Escanaba got on the board first with 11:21 to go in the first quarter as senior quarterback Alex Ison took it 57 yards to the house to put the Eskymos up 7-0.

"We knew we were going to come out hot," Ison said. "Our offense played well and the offensive line made big holes for our rushing game."

The Blue Devils answered quickly as they drove down the field and scored on a 21 Yard TD pass from Mason Garlinghouse to Dane Armentrout to cut the deficit to 7-6.

On the ensuing kickoff Escanaba junior Bryce Bichler took the kickoff 74 yards to the end zone and extended the Eskymos lead to 14-6.

With 8:45 to go in the first quarter, Ison took it 29 yards for a TD and put the Eskymos up 21-6

"The boys had a lot of fun tonight," Eskymos coach Bailey Lamb said. "They wanted to go out there and have a good night and the guys executed really well on the offensive side of the ball."

On the Blue Devils next drive Garlinghouse was intercepted by sophomore Connor Asgaard and he took it 18 yards to the house and put the Eskymos up 28-6. The Eskymos were not done there as Ison ran in his third of four rushing TDs for Ison on the night to extend the lead to 35-6.

The Blue Devils scored their second TD of the game with 2:58 to go in the first quarter to cut the deficit to 35-12.

Ison led the way on the ground for the Eskymos as he rushed for 196 yards on 12 carries. Ison scored his fourth TD of the game with 8:49 to go in the second quarter as he ran it to the house from 61 yards out to put the Eskymos up 49-20.

With 6:36 to go in the third quarter, Ison connected with Eli Englund on a 26-yard TD pass to extend the lead to 62-20.

The Eskymos will be back in action Friday for homecoming as they host Calumet.
