Escanaba takes down Maroons in baseball action

ESCANABA — It was a good night on the diamond for the Escanaba Eskymos as they defeated the Menominee Maroons 6-3 here Thursday.
Mikaiden Hughes singled in the first inning to score a run to put Escanaba up 1-0. Menominee responded in the second inning to tie the game at one on an RBI-single by Jax Jasenovsky.
Escanaba jumped back into the lead for good in the bottom of the third as the Eskymos scored a run on an error as well as an RBI-single by Lennox Peacock and a two-run double by Graham Johnson to put the Eskymos up 5-1.
Bryce Bichler picked up the win for Escanaba as he allowed three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
The Eskymos scored their six runs on only four hits as Urijah Linsmeier struggled on the mound, walking eight batters in the contest.
The Eskymos who faced Swan Valley and Southgate Anderson Friday will face both teams again today at Al Ness Field.
