Manistique drops pair of games in Green Bay Wis.

GREEN BAY — Spring may be here but it didn’t feel like it today as temperatures were in the 40’s with gusty winds as Manistique dropped a pair of games. The Emeralds lost 20-4 to Calumet and 25-15 to Green Bay Southwest.
The Emeralds had no answer for Escanaba native Andrew Juntilla as he went 5 for 5 at the plate with four runs scored 2 RBIs and three stolen bases.
“I was seeing the ball really well today,” Juntilla said. “I was just staying calm in the box even when I was down and my swing felt good.”
Calumet got on the board in the top of the first inning as Tyler Halonen singled to the left side of the infield and Joe Halonen grounded out, each scoring a run.
Calumet added to their lead in the top of the third inning on dropped first strike as well as singles by Oskar Loukus, Tyler Halonen and a flyout by Joe Halonen each scoring a run putting the Copper Kings up 6-1.
Calumet added five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning highlighted by a two-run single to extend the lead to 11-1.
The Emeralds got a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth as Mack Pugh grounded into a fielder’s choice to score a run and Cole Watchorn drew a walk to score a run to cut the deficit to 11-3.
Calumet added nine runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning highlighted by a two-run single by Oskar Loukus and a two-run single by Juntilla.
The Emeralds came out fast in their second game as a double by Britt Frain put the Emeralds up 1-0. The Emeralds added to their lead in the top of the second inning as Mack Pugh singled and Landon Papple drew a walk, each scoring a run and putting the Emeralds up 3-0.
The Trojans tied the game in the bottom thanks to a single by Ryan Lawler and a walk by Adam Nelson to score a run.
A fielder’s choice by Brayden Lancour gave the Emeralds a 4-3 lead until the Trojans scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at four.
Manistique took the lead back in the top of the fourth inning as Cole Watchorn singled to center field, Britt Frain flew out, Jeffery Lampin walked and Joshua Worth singled each scoring a run.
The Trojans added 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Manistique responded with seven runs in the top of the fifth inning as Cole Watchorn and Jeffery Lampin each had two-run singles in the inning.
